Do You Have The Makings of A Successful Blogger?

A lot of people read a blog and think, “Hey, I could do that!” A huge, stiff salute to you if you can but there are several reasons why you may fizzle out midway. The reason a larger percentage of bloggers don’t make it big is because they don’t understand what blogging is all about. Here are some myths you need to crack before you decide whether blogging is really your thing.

You Think Blogging is Easy and Fun

Yes, it can be a lot of fun if you are passionate about it but blogging is anything but a breeze. Successful bloggers spend months, and even years, building a blog and a loyal readership – that is a whole lot of hard work! Needless to say, these people are extremely passionate about their work.

You are in it for the money

Most A-list bloggers blog, not because they are looking for a get-rich-quick scheme, but because they have something to say and share. The money starts trickling in much, much later and earnings steadily increase as the blog gains traffic and popularity. As much as it is rewarding, blogging requires a butt load of patience and perseverance. So if you have your eyes set on the cash register, you will probably not be able to hang in there for too long.

You do not enjoy writing

Successful bloggers have one thing in common – they are all prolific writers. Writing and blogging go hand-in-hand because every blog requires copious amounts of content and regular postings before it can draw in enough visitors. If you are not much of a writer, you can never be a successful blogger. You may consider outsourcing your blog content to a professional writer but that can turn out to be quite an expensive proposition, especially in the beginning.

You think blogging is a solo endeavor

There are lone bloggers and then there are successful bloggers. You can most certainly start a blog by yourself but it can be a challenge to popularize it without support from the blogging community. To drive traffic and climb up the search engine ladder, you need relevant back links. Big-time bloggers are aggressive networkers who don’t spare an opportunity to connect and collaborate with other bloggers.

  1. I totally agree! Blogging is hard work. It demands persistence and time as well as deep level of patience. It's like sowing, watering and nurturing a seed into a beautiful tree bearing sweet fruit.
